Storm 87, Dream 84: Seattle takes a 2-0 lead against Atlanta. The Dream didn’t go away, but it was just too much Seattle. Points in the paint the Storm had 42 points (Atl 34), and rebounds 36 (Atl +7). Seattle shot 48.3 percent from the field and 25 percent (4 for 16) from three-point range. Lauren Jackson led all scorers with 26 points and seven rebounds. Swin Cash added 19 points, Tanisha Wright had 17 points, and Sue Bird had 10 points. Game 3 the Storm will look to close out the series.
Oh Atlanta, I didn’t want to see you in this situation 0-2. We know that the Dream is a team that likes to run which works for them, but like in this game that worked against them. They grabbed more rebounds (33), but turnovers and not getting their shot’s going (second half) did not help. As a team the Dream shot 45.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent beyond the arc. Angel McCoughtry finished with 21 points, but she had an off night 7 for 23 from the field and 3 for 5 from three-point range. McCouhtry didn’t attack the paint instead settling for jump shots. Izi Castro Marques also had 21 points, Sancho Lyttle had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Erika DeSouza had 11 points seven rebounds. Looking at the box score again 32 team fouls to 18 doesn’t help either(homecourt advantage).
Series shifts to the ATL and the Dream (must win) are facing elimination. Game three Thursday at 8:00 pm ESPN2. I will be at Philips Arena.
