Storm 79, Dream 77: Down to wire, but Seattle escapes with the two point win over Atlanta. Once again Sue Bird hit the game winning jumper with 2.6 left. Flashback to last Sunday when Bird hit that game winner against  Phoenix. The Storm shot 44.3 percent from the field and 37.5 percent (6 for 16) from three-point range. Lauren Jackson led the team in scoring with 26 points and eight rebounds, Camille Little had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sue Bird added 14 points and eight assists, and Swin Cash finished with nine points.
The Dream didn’t let up, despite being down by 13 they fought back.Let’s go back to the shot by Sue Bird. Defense was late, but was that because of a moving screen by LJ??? Who knows, but they have to regroup for game 2 which is a must win. Atlanta shot 41.6 percent from the field and just 26.7 percent (4 for 15) from three-point range. Angel McCoughtry and Izi Castro Marques led in scoring with 19 points. Sancho Lyttle (14 rebounds) and Erika DeSouza each had 10 points. The Dreams bench did outscored the Storms bench 19-8.
Road wins are big, so Atlanta has to go out there and play their game Tuesday.

Side note: Congrats to Team USA for winning the gold medal today at the World Championship.
